About the Course

K9 Tactical Combat Casualty Care (K9 TCCC) Course

Course Description:

The K9 Tactical Combat Casualty Care (K9 TCCC) course offered by the Within Thin Lines Foundation is designed to provide comprehensive training in emergency medical care for military working dogs, law enforcement K9 units, and other working dogs in high-risk operational environments. This course is tailored to equip handlers, medics, and other professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively assess, treat, and evacuate injured K9s in the field.

Throughout the course, participants will gain a deep understanding of K9 anatomy and physiology, as well as the specific medical considerations and interventions required in emergency situations. The curriculum covers topics such as hemorrhage control, airway management, wound care, and triage specific to K9s. Students will also receive training on tactical field care principles, including casualty extraction and evacuation procedures.

The K9 TCCC course at Within Thin Lines Foundation emphasizes hands-on practical exercises and realistic simulations to ensure participants are proficient in applying medical care techniques in dynamic and challenging environments. Additionally, the course will incorporate case studies and lessons learned from real-world scenarios to enhance decision-making and critical thinking skills.

Upon successful completion of the K9 TCCC course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to provide life-saving medical care to injured K9s in the field, ultimately contributing to the overall readiness and well-being of working dog teams.

Prerequisites: 

- Participants must be active-duty military personnel, law enforcement officers, K9 handlers, or individuals working with K9 units.

- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency medical care is recommended.

-TECC or TCCC Certification is not required but highly recommended. 

Course Duration: 

The K9 TCCC course is held for a 9 hour training day, including a one hour lunch break. 

Course Outline: 

The K9 TCCC Course will be using the Co-TECC Standard of care for K9s.

The Day will consist of lecture presentations of active standards of care and recommended interventions, followed by hands-on skill developement stations, Simulated training scenarios and Real K9 involvement excersizes. 

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion from Within Thin Lines Foundation, recognizing their proficiency in K9 Tactical Combat Casualty Care. Additionally, as an authorized and accredited distributor of medical equipement, registrants will have an opportunity to purchase, set up, and train with their new K9 Individual First Aid Kits (IFAK).

***Please note: a regustration minimum of 10 registrants will have to be met in order to secure the date of this course and delivery of the training materials involved. Registrations are due by March 19th. In the event that the course cannot be met with the student minimum, the course will be rescheduled at a later date.
